Dancing is fun!

So I personally could stay here for months and just dance all day, every day.  I think this morning was the first time that the kidlets thought that I was really crazy.  They are all super tired, end of tether type material and I still sign in to 4 classes today - although I was a little less crazy than other days because I gave myself a 30 minute break.

Its great that everyone (including me) is getting to take class with some absolutely amazing dancers - really inspires you to push yourself to be way better than you thought you could be!  It is also great that they get to take class with all my favourite teachers!  Everytime someone asks what class they should take I select one and then tell them that it is with my favourite teacher.  One of them asked how many favourite teachers I had!

We went to Batsheva Dance Company tonight down at the Joyce Theatre.  The performance was just on an hour and was five male dancers only.  They danced their backsides off!  Some of the concepts were really interesting and the movement was different as well as technically amazing.  At one stage Lauren and I were scared that one of the dancers was going to leap from the stage and that we would have to provide first aid - which neither of us wanted to do because he was covered in mud! (yes this was part of the performance).  And mum if you are reading this.....you would have been desperate for them to wash their hands!  Lauren wanted to offer them hand sanitiser.

Morgs has succeeded in finding signage/labels that relate to her name.  She found these joke pills called Moregasm (that counts for Morgan apparently because it was one of her joke profile names on fb at one stage); the street sign for Jane St down in the meatpacking district; and a bar and grill called Smith's.  All the photographic evidence is posted on fb.

Tomorrow morning we get to go and watch one of the closed university classes at Alvin Ailey.  This is so exciting cause all the kidlets get to see the standard of the first years at Ailey.  A great privilege to be allowed into a closed class too!  They must have been smiling nicely in the background when I asked!  And I of course asked my favourite teacher!!!!!!  No he really is my favourite teacher - I strive to be as good a teacher as him one day!  He has created many many strong and technically capable dancers!

Anyway - time for bed - I sent all the kidlets early tonight.  They needed to get an early night!  Anyway - laundry is calling....grrrrrr!

PS.  Morgs isnt really swearing, we were having an argument about swear words!  Thought I better clear that one up for any of Morgs friend or family who are reading this page!

Day 3! or is it 4!

Sheridan has not been swearing!  However Morgan is filling in the gaps!  HAHAHAHA!

Today we are all feeling a little sore.  We are all enjoying classes and most of us are enjoying shopping.

We went to La Cage Aux Folles last night which was fantastic.  The dancers were amazing and super flexible.  The show was very funny and the drag queen warm up act was excellent (so entertaining - although a little crude).

We have shopped at various places just as we are walking by on the way to classes - Capezio has lots of our money and we have appointments for shoe fittings next week.

We will get ourselves together and upload photos in the next day or so, when our internet is fixed.  Our apartment is amazing and the people we are renting through have been super helpful and came down at 11pm to try to help with the internet and they are coming back to fix it tomorrow.

Heading for bed now cause it is 1am and we were trying to have early night tonight!

PS. Did Chio's class today.....love her!

WE HAVE ARRIVED

What a long trip!

We have arrived safe and well.  The flight from Sydney to LA was the longest ever with no in-flight entertainment (no I will never book Delta again except in the case of an emergency) and food that was not too flash.

The flight connection was tight but we managed to make it ok.  Everyone is exhausted and they are all sleeping at the moment - which is a good thing given that it is close to midnight.

Our apartment is a little out of the way - but in a quiet neighbourhood and the place is fantastic.  Great spacious bedrooms and really nice furniture and fittings.  Two full bathrooms - which is absolutely essential with the number of us staying here.  We also have a full kitchen and heaps of onsite amenities.

We were planning to do the big shop tonight but have given it a miss in favour of a quick bite to eat and about half an hour in the pharmacy - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, cereal, milk, water, first aid stuff and beer!

Feeling a little excited and super tired - so I am off to have a few hours rest before we launch ourselves into classes - I cant wait!

ONLY TWO WEEKS TO GO

Well its only two weeks until we leave. In fact at this time in two weeks we will be on the plane heading out to LA to continue on to NYC.  Having left all of our families at home - either sad because they will miss us for three weeks; jealous because they wanted to come; or happy to be rid of us as many of us are very loud - and if not loud demand so much of our families time (driving us around, picking us up, taking us to classes, spending weekends at competitions or exam practice or whatever) that they will be relieved to have a break!

Still struggling to get the timetable done and also fit in everything that we want to do.  Its super hard in NYC as there are so many things to do and also so many classes that clash.  Solution would be to stay longer in NYC........maybe another time.  Also I forget how crazy I am (usually I would burn through 10 classes in 3 days) and this is not exactly what the students always want to do.  Last time I was in NYC I did 15 classes at BDC and 10 at Steps and would have done more except for my travelling companions need to eat food! HAHAHAHAHA!
